Description
The Atlantic Club Casino, originally opened as the Golden Nugget in 1980, was a prominent casino and hotel located in Atlantic City, New Jersey. It underwent several name changes and ownerships over the years, becoming Bally’s Grand, The Grand, and finally the Atlantic Club. Despite efforts to rejuvenate its fortunes, the casino struggled financially in the increasingly competitive market. In 2014, the Atlantic Club closed its doors after being sold to Caesars Entertainment and Tropicana Entertainment, who divided and sold off its assets. Its closure marked the beginning of a wave of casino shutdowns in Atlantic City during that period.
