South Coast Casino in Las Vegas, now known as South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa, opened its doors on December 22, 2005. Originally developed by Michael Gaughan under the Coast Casinos brand, it was designed to cater to locals and visitors alike with its expansive casino floor, hotel accommodations, and various entertainment options. In 2006, shortly after its opening, Gaughan sold Coast Casinos to Boyd Gaming but retained ownership of South Coast. He then rebranded it as South Point and has continued to develop it, adding amenities such as a large equestrian center, a movie theater, and a bowling alley, establishing it as a comprehensive resort destination on the southern edge of the Las Vegas Strip.
