Palms Casino Las Vegas Seattle Slew 1 Dollar Chip

Description

Seattle Slew was an American Thoroughbred racehorse, renowned for winning the Triple Crown in 1977. Born on February 15, 1974, and bred by Ben S. Castleman, Seattle Slew was purchased for a modest $17,500 at a yearling auction by Karen and Mickey Taylor along with Jim and Sally Hill. Trained by Billy Turner, Seattle Slew quickly demonstrated exceptional talent, going undefeated as a two-year-old.

In 1977, he won the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes, and Belmont Stakes, becoming the tenth Triple Crown winner and the first to do so while undefeated. His career record stood at 14 wins out of 17 starts. After retiring from racing in 1978, Seattle Slew became a highly influential sire, producing numerous successful offspring. He passed away on May 7, 2002, but remains celebrated as one of the greatest racehorses in American history.
